Alex’s Story

Welcome to our latest video, where we bring you a live shoulder injection demonstration featuring Alex’s steroid injection story. In this video, we sit down with Alex to discuss his recent experience with a steroid injection in his shoulder, and get an inside look at what the process entails.

Shoulder pain can be a common occurrence for many people, and the causes can be diverse. It can range from minor irritation to debilitating pain that can affect everyday activities. The shoulder is a complex joint that can be prone to a variety of injuries and conditions, including rotator cuff injuries, tendinitis, bursitis, and arthritis.

Why a steroid injection?

Steroid injections are often prescribed to alleviate the pain and inflammation that can be associated with these conditions. We begin by asking Alex about his initial symptoms and the factors that led him to seek out this treatment. Alex, who is a fitness enthusiast, was experiencing severe shoulder pain that was significantly affecting his daily routine. He had tried various remedies, including rest, ice, and Physiotherapy, but to no avail.

The pain had persisted for several months, and he was keen to explore other options.

We delve into the details of his condition and the various options he considered before ultimately deciding to go ahead with the injection.

Cook et al demonstrated that a steroid injection is beneficial in the short term (up to 8 Weeks) . This benefit is likely to reflect the anti-inflammatory effects of the steroid.

Burger et al 2016 also concluded steroid injections to be an effective treatment option for decreasing pain and improving shoulder function.

A steroid injection alone will not resolve most shoulder pain. It is important that you continue on with your regular rehabilitation plan after the injection to maximise the benefits. Any steroid injection is designed to reduce your pain and give you a pain free window to perform your Physiotherapy rehabilitation.

Alex shares his experience of consulting with us and how we came to the decision that a steroid injection would be the best course of action. As we watch the injection take place we discuss Alex’s experience with the procedure and how he has been feeling since. Alex describes the process as a little daunting but ultimately straightforward.

We also ask Alex about his recovery process and whether he has undertaken any rehabilitation exercises to aid in his recovery. He shares recommended specific exercises to help build up strength in his shoulder and prevent further injury. Alex talks about how he found these exercises challenging but essential for his recovery.

Finally, we ask Alex about his current condition and how he has been feeling since the injection. He explains that he is feeling much better and that the pain has significantly reduced. Alex shares that he has resumed some of his regular activities but is being cautious not to push himself too hard. He emphasizes the importance of following instructions and taking things slowly to avoid re-injury.

In conclusion, this video provides an informative and insightful look into what a steroid injection for shoulder pain involves. Alex’s story highlights the importance of seeking medical advice for persistent pain and how treatment options can help alleviate the symptoms associated with shoulder conditions. It also shows the recovery process and how rehabilitation exercises can help improve the strength and flexibility of the shoulder.
